Focus: Multi-generational learning experiences on Saturdays.
Details: STEAM projects for youth, plus adult programs in Health & Wellness, Employment & Skill Development, and Family Engagement.
Sites: Skyview Terrace Apartments, Hobbs Apartments, Park Place Apartments and New Leaf Apartments.
Impact: Extends FIA’s mission to whole families while maintaining youth enrichment.

Pathways to Possibilities Assistance Fund
Focus: Removing barriers to extracurricular access.
Details: Provides small grants (up to $250 per child) to help families afford sports, arts, tutoring, STEM, or academic activities.
Impact: Ensures financial hardship does not block youth from enrichment opportunities.

Books, Bites & Bedtime Stories 2.0
Focus: Literacy outreach + family bonding.
Details: Storytime sessions paired with snacks and literacy activities in housing communities.
Impact: Promotes grade-level reading and fosters a love of books for at-risk youth.

Healthy You, Happy Crew
Focus: Family wellness.
Details: Combines movement, nutrition, and mindfulness through workshops, wellness kits, and challenges. Recently streamlined with United Way’s “United We Play” initiative.
Impact: Improves family health and builds healthy daily habits across the community.

Think, Create, Innovate
Focus: Maker Spaces, project-based learning, and STEAM exploration.
Details: Our Summer Program including permanent Maker Spaces accessible to the public. Includes nutritional snacks and field trips to museums, libraries, arts centers, pools, and more.
Impact: Provides structured enrichment and prevents summer learning loss for low-income youth.

Grow Well: Garden & Health Days
Focus: Nutrition, sustainability, and family fun.
Details: Garden planting activities, composting, and community picnics. Encourage family trips to local farmers market.
Impact: Connects families to fresh food access and environmental learning.

Hooked on Nature: Fishing for Equity
Focus: Outdoor stewardship and recreation for underserved youth.
Details: A two-part program introducing 25 youth from low-income Hobbs apartment communities to fishing, camping, and environmental education. Removes barriers of cost, gear, and transportation with hands-on learning experiences leading to a capstone overnight trip at one of New Mexico’s premier fishing destinations.
Impact: Builds outdoor skills, environmental knowledge, and a lifelong connection to nature while fostering confidence, teamwork, and access to recreation.

Future Forward Community Days
Focus: County-wide family engagement, STEAM exploration, literacy, and wellness.
Details: Rotating “family fun fair” style events across Hobbs, Lovington, Eunice, Tatum, and other Lea County towns.
Features hands-on STEM/Art stations, literacy activities, health & wellness booths, and cultural enrichment.
Partnerships: Lea County Health & Wellness, Eunice Teen Center, Lovington Teen Center, Lea County Center of the Arts, JF Maddox, Lea County, NMDOH, Campaign for Grade Level Reading, Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin, Office of African American Affairs, and so many more.
Impact: Brings resources and enrichment directly into rural and underserved communities, strengthening county-wide connections and bridging access gaps.
